All About Mrs. Ward
I would like to welcome you and your child to the 2018-2019 school year at Big Hollow Middle School and to your child’s sixth grade ELA class. I am very excited to be your child’s reading and language arts teacher! For those who do not know me, let me take this opportunity to introduce myself. I majored in psychology and education and have a master’s degree in reading. I grew up in New Hampshire and have two grown children and four grandchildren. I am truly blessed. I, also, feel blessed as I begin my 26th year at Big Hollow. I have taught elementary, 6th, 7th, 8th, and college classes. I love teaching here and the Big Hollow community holds a special place in my heart.
As your child’s teacher, I have the responsibility and honor of delivering to your child the joy of books and the importance of learning various writing skills. As individual students, they come with a wide range of skills and ability levels. Not everyone brings the same things “to the table” but a willingness to share their efforts and talents are a valuable addition to a classroom. I will do my best to help your child improve on his/her skills and develop an appreciation towards reading and writing. Most importantly, I want students to come to class because they want to, not because they have to. I believe communication between teachers and parents is vital. Therefore, I write a monthly newsletter that you will find on my web page.
